Technoserve extends support to young entrepreneurs

Technoserve, an American NGO which has been operating in Ghana over the last thirty years has restated its commitment to continue provide young Ghanaians with entrepreneurial skills development.
Through its Believe, Begin, Become competition, young entrepreneurs with existing businesses and with the capacity to grow are given the needed support to grow their business in a very competitive and self sustaining manner.
The competition, which started last year looks out for innovative new business ideas and provide training, mentoring and business development assistance to promising entrepreneurs.
The competition opened to more than 500 entrants across the ten regions of the country and would be narrowed down to less than 100. Winners will receive help to the tune of $15,000m to help them expand their business.
Speaking on Citi FM’s Business Digest, Project Manager of the competition Sika Acolatse was hopeful about the success of the programme.
She told host Saint Doe-Tamakloe that the competition is aimed at developing the entrepreneurial skills of the Ghanaian, by helping them develop a competitive business spirit that will translate into wealth creation.
She said most businesses in the past who have had close association with the competition are doing well in their areas of operations. Most of these persons, she said, do not only come from influential cities like Accra and elsewhere but in the hinterlands where people believe businesses do not thrive well there.
She also revealed that the programme is not necessarily a competition but with a capacity development plan attached.
Madam Acolatse also said the programme is not targeted at young people only but small and medium scale enterprises. (SME’s).
“Existing businesses are welcome as well as start ups,” she added
