As part of efforts to improve and expand operational development in the Ghanaian economy, Unilever Ghana Limited, a manufacturing company sponsored three of its staff to update their skills at the World Economic Forum.
The forum which was attended by Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary General, Tokyo Sexwale of South Africa's ruling African National Congress, and other dignitaries from Africa, offers young African leaders a positive perspective of what can be done differently and better to further the politics of our continent for its continued development.
The topics discussed included building capacity for success, enhanced investors, Africa as a global partner, a competitive future and pathways to prosperity. As the forum proceeded, the session on building capacity for success did not only build capacity in theory but practically brought together all participants from politics to business coming out with a blue print to build capacity for Africa now and the future.
Speaking about their experiences at the forum, the participants agreed that the experience obtained at such a platform does not only challenge one with a responsibility to one's generation, but also to create an Africa of peace and economic prosperity, and build adequate capacity to take away Africa from poverty and diseases.
A participant noted that, "the forum imbues you with the feeling that although there are some dark spots, there is a new dawn of hope towards creating a new Africa which is resourced enough to be a global partner".
Evelyn Sam, Kweku Frimpong, and Chris Wulff-Ceaser were the privileged managers to sit in the discussions and plenary sessions with key African personalities for the company in Cape-Town South Africa.
