International Gateway Distributor Enters ICT Market

NTERNATIONAL GATEWAY Distribution (IGD), a reputable value-added Information and Communications Technology Master Distributor with a regional hub in Beirut, Lebanon, has entered the Ghanaian and West Africa ICT market with an introduction of its corporate entity, products and services as well as supply partners at an ICT workshop for local ICT industry stakeholders and key players at Golden Tulip hotel in Accra.

The introductions were made by Mr. Francois Hannouche, Founder and CEO of International Gateway Distribution (IGD).

The workshop was hosted in collaboration with Motorola Canopy, the worldwide leader in point-to-point IP wireless radio and IGD accredited wireless supply partner.

Mr. Hannouche informed the audience, of International Gateway Distribution's offers of a broad portfolio of network-integrated products including some of the world's leading brands in networking.

The company, he stated, was staffed by highly qualified professionals with "a thorough Middle East and African Business conduct experience."

General activities carried out by IGD were in the areas of extensive regional support including logistics, networking design, technical support, sales support and marketing programmes to both suppliers and channel partners while specialization was in wireless activities, internet traffic, data resources optimization, passive optical networks and GSM/COMA in-building optimization.

Mr. Hannouche said his company's business strategy centres around recognition and adoption of the 'Think Global, Act Local' philosophy coupled with a proven Push/Pull approach as the best means of serving its Partners. "Combining the latest technologies with the most prominent partners has resulted in a world that is getting around the amazing things that International Gateway Distribution enables," he pointed out.

He stated that IGD supplies end users of its products through local partners who are "typically business suppliers, value added resellers, retailers and system integrators."

International Gateway Distribution's current supply partners, he added, are Motorola Canopy, Tropos Networks and PepWave in the wireless sector; PepLink, Barracuda Networks and Array Networks in the IP Traffic and Resources Optimization sector and SECnology, Velocent Systems and Terawave Communications in the Monitoring and Fiber to the Home sector.

A presentation on Motorola Canopy Wireless Broadband was made at the workshop by Mr. Erik van der Made, Channel Manager of Motorola Canopy Wireless Broadband Network in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

He listed the advantages of the canopy platform as including "superior performance that delivers enhanced network productivity and user satisfaction, ability to extend coverage to hard-to-reach customers, acceleration of deployment without acceleration of costs and reduction in costs of advanced infrastructure."

He gave the assurance that Motorola's Canopy Wireless Broadband Platform was "the secure, flexible, reliable wireless solution for building or extending any broadband network".

He however advised network operators to stick to Motorola's recommendation to always perform a physical and radio frequency site survey in order to take into account factors such as terrain, foliage, background RF energy and other factors that affect operating range and data throughput of wireless communication.

Others at the workshop included Mr. Camille Nammour, IGD Sales Director; Mr. Mansour Karam, IG Technical Sales Engineer and Ms Belen Segovia, head of Technical Sales, CIS Ghana.
